The following components relate to the use of the user's search query terms in determining the rank of a particular page.

1. Keyword Use in Title Tag - Placing the targeted search term or phrase in the title tag of the web page's HTML header.

People behind the Google Adsense

Google's ad delivery system is the focus of this New York Times story. "The number of searches and clicks, the rate at which users click on ads, the revenue this generates - everything is tracked hour by hour, compared with the data from a week earlier and charted."

Google's ad delivery system is one of a small group of Google employees who track what works and what doesn't and their mission is "to constantly fine-tune Google’s ad delivery system, has one overriding objective: show users only the ads they are most likely to be interested in and click on."

The article notes there have been changes - clicks in some areas such as real estate and travel - have grown more slowly recently. However the relationship between clicks and revenue is only part of the story.

For those who use advertising on their website to earn money, this is an interesting behind-the-scenes look at what happens in what Google describe as a "recession resistant".

McAfee lists Riskiest Top Level Domains

You should be careful when surfing the net, if you surfing a website with Top Level Domains (TLDs) such as Hong Kong (.hk), China (.cn) or Tokelau (.tk). The latest report by McAfee showed that .hk soared in 2008 to become the riskiest country TDL, joining generic TDL .info on the black list.

There have been not much changes in 2008 compared to 2007 in terms of percentages. However, there have been a few changes in the hierarchy of the web safety landscape. That included .hk switching places with .tk as the most risky country TDL.

While some domains continue to be rated as red (avoid) or yellow (use caution), some domains seem to be significantly riskier than others. This was the case of .ro sites, McAfee said, adding that they found exploit code on 1.1 percent of all Romanian sites tested.

Thus, any .ro surfer is 1,559 percent more likely to encounter malicious drive-by code than the surfer to an average web site anywhere in the world, the report revealed.

However, the degree of security risk posed by a country domain does not necessarily associate the online activity with people in that country, researchers said, as most of the times cyber-criminals simply go trans-national.

The most popular domain on the Internet, .com, is the ninth riskiest overall with 5.3 percent, and the fourth riskiest generic TDL, McAfee’s “Mapping the Mal Web” report says.

Well, it can’t be all bad news! There are a few TDLs that pose less threat than others. The five least-risky of them are Slovenia (.si), Norway (.no), Japan (.jp), Governmental (.gov) and Finland (.fi).

So, what does it take to stay away from danger? According to McAfee, previous experience is not enough to stay safe online. Moreover, domains that used to be safe are now risky and vice-versa, the hierarchy can change every year.

No matter if you’re an IT expert, or a regular computer novice, staying safe online means getting the proper protection in terms of update security suite and why not, look for more information on web site safety rules.

Common SEO Mistakes

Here are some common mistakes webmasters make while optimizing the webpages for
better search engine rankings. So avoid them, if you dont want to be penalized by
search engines.

1. Keyword Stuffing: Putting the same keyword again and again or using hundred different spellings or tenses of the same keywords in your keyword meta tag is known as keyword stuffing and considered as spam by search engines. You must avoid it as it may harm your search engine rankings.

2. Duplicate Content: Make sure to have some unique and informative content for users on all web pages, it must be related to your business. Having the same content on your different pages of website must be avoided as it may have an adverse effect on your search engine rankings.

3. Framesets: Avoid using framesets as frames-based pages behave differently from standard Web pages, affecting essential Web functions like printing and navigation. search engines cannot index framesets.

4. Navigation and internal linking: Proper navigation and internal linking is also matters a lot. Navigation menu should be easily accessible by users. Make sure that the anchor text linking to pages within your own website is relevant to the target page.

5. Anchor Text of Inbound links: Having a lot of inbound links is not enough but the anchor text pointing to these links is also very important. The anchor text should be targeted to your main keywords and the web page they point to should have those keywords.

6. Redirects: Redirect is used to re-route users from one URL to another and search engines consider it as you are trying to trick them. You must avoid it, if necessary then use only '301 redirect' which is the safest method to redirect.

7. Cloaking: Cloaking is a technique used by some webmasters to display different pages to the search engine spiders than the ones normal visitors see. You should always avoid any form of cloaking as it strongly forbidden by most major search engines now.

8. ALT Tags: Do not forget to add ALT tag while using images in your website. You can use your targeted keywords also in ALT tags. It makes your website accessible for search engine spiders.

9. Over Optimisation: Over optimization shows that your site has been designed for search engines and not for users. It may drop your search engine rankings as search engines are now able to detect over optimized sites so you must avoid over optimization.

10. Impatience: Search engine optimization requires a lot of patience. You must wait for few months for results after optimizing your website. Have a little patience and you will get your desired results if you properly optimized your website using ethical SEO techniques.

how to put adsense inside blog content

Hello all,

In my first post I presented the method to put adsense ads inside blog headers.
Now I am going tell you one method for putting adsense right inside your blog posts
content. With this method, you will be able to put adsense in between your post title and post content or after the post content. You may even experiment different formatting to move the ads to the right or left. Check what I have done in my page for an example.

Well, here are the steps. This is little more difficult than putting ads in header.
So pls listen carefully.

1 . Go to 'template tab' and then 'Edit HTML'

2 . Find out the following line

<div class='post-header-line-1'/>

If you are not able to find out, then enable the check box
Expand Widget Templates and then check again.

3. Paste your adsense code below that line.

<script type="text/javascript"><!--
google_ad_client = "your publisher id";
google_ad_width = 250;
google_ad_height = 250;
google_ad_format = "250x250_as";
google_ad_type = "text_image";
google_ad_channel = "1807125254";
google_color_border = "477fba";
google_color_bg = "eef6fe";
google_color_link = "477fba";
google_color_text = "000000";
google_color_url = "4386ce";
//--></script>
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
</script>

Plese be very carefull while doing the 4th step. The above 3 steps alone is not sufficient. Somehow the ads are not rendering properly. There are several ways to get around this. One way is to remove the '<!--' and '//-->' from the adsense code. But this can be a possible violation of adsense TOS because we are modifying the adsense code. So we need one way with out modifying the adsense code. Now go to step 4.

4. Make the following 2 changes in your adsense code.

Replace <!-- with &lt;!--
Replace //--> with //--&gt;

Now you will get a question. "Aren't you modifying the adsense code now?"
My answer is 'No'. Becuase blogger will make opposite changes of what we have done in the step 4. If you view the page source of the final blog page, your adsense code will be there without any changes !!. Thats what we want.

Thats it. Now you can go ahead and try it out.
For your reference, here is my relavant template portion.

<div class='post-header-line-1'/>

<div style="float:right;">
<script type="text/javascript">&lt;!--
google_ad_client = "pub-5945396827065074";
google_ad_width = 250;
google_ad_height = 250;
google_ad_format = "250x250_as";
google_ad_type = "text_image";
google_ad_channel = "1807125254";
google_color_border = "477fba";
google_color_bg = "eef6fe";
google_color_link = "477fba";
google_color_text = "000000";
google_color_url = "4386ce";
//--&gt;</script>
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
</script>
</div>
<div class='post-body'>

How to put Adsense in blog header

Well, let me start with the first experince i had while creating the blog. Many of you might have wanted to put adsense (or any other programs like YPN) ads in the header of your blog. It is easy to put adsense in other areas like side bar, with the integrated 'add page element feature' in bloger beta. Here I present in you the way to put adsense in your blog heading.

1. Edit your template and go to the 'Edit HTML' tab.

2. Go to the following section in the HTML code

<div id='header-wrapper'>
<b:section class='header' id='header' maxwidgets='1' showaddelement='no'>
<b:widget id='Header1' locked='true' title='Webmaster Tips and Tricks (Header)' type='Header'/>
</b:section>
</div>

3. Make the follwing changes.
maxwidgets='2' showaddelement='yes'
Now the code will look like

<div id='header-wrapper'>
<b:section class='header' id='header' maxwidgets='2' showaddelement='yes'>
<b:widget id='Header1' locked='true' title='Webmaster Tips and Tricks (Header)' type='Header'/>
</b:section>
</div>

4. Now come to 'Page elements' tab.
Now you will be able to see 'add page element link' above the heading. Yes thats it. You are done. Now you can use that link to add a page element. From the list of options select 'HTML/JavaScript'. And in the content area paste the adsense code that
you got from google.

The ad will be placed above the Heading. You can drag it make it below the heading.

Try it out and maximize your revenues.
